JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Lead Triage Nurse assists in the development and implementation of nursing standards, policies, and procedures for Student Health Services. The Lead Triage nurse oversees operational flow and processes for triage and other clinical areas.
Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible nursing experience required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience in Nursing leadership; staff training preferred.
  • Familiarity with Infection Control APIC Guidelines preferred.

PHYSICAL SUMMARY

  • Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary Triage Lead RN; SHS Clinical Needs - Lead Registered Nurse in Primary Triage. Assesses emergencies or urgent problems and expedites treatment as necessary based on clinical judgment. Responsible for administering medications by mouth, intradermal injection, intramuscular injection, and subcutaneous injection, including immunizations and tuberculosis testing.
  • Infection Control and Quality Management - Participates in AAAHC accreditation preparation and programming. Active lead nursing member of CQMI Committee. Oversees infection control program in SHS.
