Job Description

CIMA+ is looking for a Lead Water Engineer for our Linear Infrastructure group in our Vancouver Office to work on projects based mainly in the Greater Vancouver Area. This role in our fast-growing Vancouver office will lead the design of large complex Linear Water and Wastewater projects, as well as developing and empowering a diverse group of professional staff. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with members of our linear and multi-disciplinary water and wastewater project teams on exciting and engaging infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects and project teams through all phases of project planning, design, construction and commissioning of Municipal Water and Wastewater projects
  • Prepare and/or supervise engineering studies, environmental assessments, reports, calculations, plans and contract documents for water and wastewater related projects.
  • Produce cost estimates and construction specifications independently working with project staff
  • Lead and/or assist in the pursuit of new projects involving request for proposals with clients, including technical writing and proposal development and production
  • Build relationships with existing and potential clients in effort to grow the local water and wastewater practice
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic planning of the BC Water/Wastewater Group
  • Manage project resources, schedule, budget, quality management and project risk assessment on behalf of CIMA+ to meet client expectations individually and independently
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, regulatory and utility agencies, project stakeholders, and contractors
  • Lead and mentor intermediate and junior staff on fundamentals of detail design of linear work and general project management skills. Training and development of junior staff is critical in this role
  • Work on projects in remote locations from Vancouver Office (no relocations required) and assist other offices across Canada in delivering large Linear Water and Wastewater projects
  • Ability to break projects down into tasks and sequences to ensure project delivery within established scope, schedule and budget

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institute
  • Registered (or eligible to register as) member of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with municipal clients on Linear Water/Wastewater projects.
  • Experience in large-diameter watermains with tunneling and/or rehabilitation works is a preference
  • Proven experience delivering projects in value of 2.5 million and up
  • Strong understanding of impacts from linear works, such as impacts to traffic, adjacent infrastructure, the public is an asset
  • Experience working with local clients in the Greater Vancouver area is an asset
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
  • Ability to use and coordinate virtual meeting software and lead virtual meetings and workshops
  • Excellent written and verbal communication of project plans and presentations
    The expected salary for this position is from $122,000 to $160,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the profile of the candidate.
