KAIRURUKU AKORANGA (LEARNING ADVISOR) - PART-TIME (24 HOURS PER WEEK)
Do you enjoy working in a diverse environment where no two days are the same, while balancing your delivery of learning support to meet the needs of our ākonga? Then the part-time Learning Advisor role at UCOL Wairarapa will be of interest to you. (0.6 FTE - 24 hours per week)
The kaupapa of this role is to support learners from certificate to post graduate level to be successful in their academic study via targeted and responsive learning services. This is a varied role that supports ākongas’ academic skills development through individual and group support, tutorials and specialist in class workshops. You will work collaboratively with team members, other support kaimahi and faculty.
The role will be reporting to the Kaikōkiri Te Mana Tauira, Wairarapa and will be part of Te Mana Tauira (student success) team. You will be joining an enthusiastic and dynamic team who are passionate about supporting UCOL’s ākonga. Te Mana Tauira Wairarapa provide a wrap-around support service to overcome any barriers which may get in the way of ākongas’ learning.
You will have experience in the delivery of learning support and/or teaching experience along with a bachelor’s degree, or relevant equivalent qualification/experience.
We are looking for someone with the ability to develop supportive relationships with ākonga and tap into a wide range of approaches to engage ākonga with diverse needs.
You will have an understanding of a wide range of issues that impact learning success, along with knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for and application to professional practice in the New Zealand Institute of Technologies and Polytechnic (ITP) sector. Excellent written and verbal skills and an ability to present in a range of environments, and communicate persuasively and effectively to a range of people is a must.
The role will involve creating a safe space for individuals to self-determine their pathway to success through mana enhancing interactions. Therefore a strong understanding of manaakitanga and the ability to interact with all people individually and collectively as culturally located people above all else is integral to the success of this role.
We anticipate interviewing prior to Christmas with a view to the successful applicant being available to start from the 21st of January 2025.
