    We are looking an experienced Learning & Development (L&D) Expert who is ready to make a significant impact in the construction industry supporting our team to connect to our future energy system, powered by clean electricity. We want someone with impressive organisational skills and a passion for growing and developing our people to take on this exciting new role within a thriving business.
    The purpose of this role is to develop an efficient and effective L&D function which supports all areas of the business from recruitment to retirement!

Responsibilities:

Powersystems UK is an employee-owned high voltage electrical engineering company. We have specialised in electrical power infrastructure, grid connections and renewable energy generation since 1977. Due to our continuing success, we have a pipeline of work into 2026 and beyond.
Our aim is to ensure all our employees are supported throughout their career with us, and this includes learning and development. WHAT YOULL DO:

  • Initially establish the L&D function, understanding the current status and requirements of the business. Create a strategy to enhance our current provision to enable Powersystems UK to become a trailblazer in L&D within the industry.
  • Collaborate with Head of Departments to identify learning and development requirements and support the design and delivery of the best solutions for our business.
  • Take ownership of the creation of an Apprentice and Graduate development scheme to steer their career progression within the Company.
  • Actively seek out industry trends, best practices and advancements in learning methodologies to continuously improve our learning and development content and processes.
  • Manage relationships with training providers and negotiate contracts within budget.
  • Co-ordinate all aspects of formal training, including annual Training Week. This will include external, internal and online training, co-ordination of participation and evaluation of effectiveness/quality.
  • Verify and validate educational credentials for new and existing members of the team to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive training records and provide reports as necessary for ISO accreditation.
  • Proactively look at ways to enhance the service and improve the efficiency of company processes.

HERES WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE:

  • Proven experience with taking on ownership of learning and development especially familiarity with safety training requirements.
  • Great organisational and time management skills with ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of the business and industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with learning management system (LMS) software and MS Office applications.
  • Experience of supporting Apprentices and Graduates.
  • Conscientious, innovative and great attention to detail.
  • Highly numerate and creative problem solver.
