Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Learning & Development Manager will design, plan, and lead all aspects of the learning, development and effectiveness across the organization. The Manager ensures that learning initiatives are in alignment with business strategy and support management objectives by partnering closely with leaders. The role provides strategic direction for training and development across the network to ensure consistent training, coordination of efforts, sharing of best practice and tracking of key metrics to continuously evolve and improve. Serves as subject matter expert on adult learning principles, facilitation skills, and innovative learning technology to develop high impact learning solutions.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in adult learning, learning & development, organizational development, HR or another related field
  • 6+ years’ experience in Talent management, learning & development or other related experience and 3+ years of people leadership experience
  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal and influencing skills with all levels of employees, management, and customer
  • Experience leading individual and group training
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to quickly build and maintain positive professional relationships across all levels of the business
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communicator, upbeat motivator, relates relevant stories, applies adult learning concepts and ability to tailor audience messaging to varied levels. Eager to help people grow
  • Strong business and financial acumen skills
  • Demonstrated track record of leading significant process improvements and managing through change
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and eLearning development tools (e.g. Articulate, Captivate, Elucidat)
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • This position must pass a post-offer background check

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (preferred)
  • Professional Certificate in Learning & Development
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience with Cornerstone Learning Management System
  • Experience supporting Warehouse/Distribution/Supply Chain industries

Responsibilities:

Talent Development

  • Develop a Learning and Development Strategy and Road map
  • Conduct a needs analysis to determine the functional and leadership development gaps we have in the business
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to identify, qualify, design and deliver learning experiences to leaders based on their respective area of expertise – apply adult education theories and models to ensure effectiveness of experience
  • Responsible for building out the curriculum for New Managers with subject matter expertise in learning theory, experiential learning design and delivery, leadership theory and models
  • Research best practices and build plans to implement into Martin-Brower’s leadership approach in collaboration with the local HR leadership and the Reyes Learning & Development team
  • Build and execute evaluation of programs to assess for effectiveness and efficiencies of development programs
  • Conduct professional development workshop sessions such as, leadership competencies, coaching techniques and presentation skills developments

Leadership Development

  • Assesses, recommends, creates, and implements leadership development processes, tools, resources, and solutions and/or organization development interventions based on strategic or tactical business plans
  • Utilizes expert facilitation skills in conducting leadership and professional development programs for mid to senior levels across the organization
  • Delivers leadership development courses and workshops in alignment with the organization’s goals
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends in leadership development
  • Establish, execute, and monitor the rollout of leadership development programs as required
  • Build common leadership and professional skills for all employees
  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter / content experts, business partners and vendors to create and design new content, tools and learning solutions to meet Company’s leadership capabilities needs

Training / Process Design & Improvement / System Integration:

  • Develop and Implement training programs across all functions and function specific training requirements
  • Facilitate engaging instructor-led classes and webinars, effectively
  • Apply expert adult learning principles and appropriate instructional design methods to design, develop, and/or select high-quality learning solutions
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to identify, design, and deliver training needs for respective areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for building out the onboarding process for new hires and for new managers to provide resources to be successful in role
  • Coach future leaders on communication and change management
  • Collaborate with the Team Leads & Managers to ensure effective processes and smooth hand offs between development and delivery
  • Design and develop instructional material to improve process deployment
  • Evaluate system efficiency and business impact through formalized metrics, gap assessments and continuous improvement feedback
  • Coordinate and deliver local training and development programs with the support of the Human Resources Managers
  • Manage vendors to ensure quality and cost-effective training solutions and facilitation
  • Manage training professionals reporting to this position to maximize limited resources, minimize rework, and ensure quality
  • Ensure the operations follow all Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP)/Good Drivers Practices (GDP) for transport rules and regulation
  • Other projects or duties as assigned
