Job Description

The Learning Specialist partners with Operational Leaders, HR Business Partners, and the Health & Safety Specialist to create effective training programs for MLSE’s hourly workforce and management groups. Reporting to the Manager, Learning & Organizational Development, this role requires a passion for professional development, excellent project management abilities, and deep expertise in creating learning content. Effective communication and collaboration are key to building relationships at all levels of MLSE and will help to ensure your success in this role.

  • Develop and deliver learning initiatives for MLSE’s hourly workforce and operational management groups (e.g., Food & Beverage, Security, Event Staff) to improve fan and guest experiences across all of our venues.
  • Build programming aligned with MLSE’s Values and employee policies, while ensuring adherence to OHSA, Ontario Food Safety legislation, and AODA guidelines.
  • Deliver on all stages of a project within the established timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects to successful completion.
  • Write, edit, and format documentation and materials needed for each program including facilitator scripts/guides, workbooks, storyboards, webinars, videos, and other training media as needed.
  • Deploy a range of learning modalities to support a variety of learner experiences, ensuring content is timely, relevant, and connected to responsibilities and growth.
  • Continuously measure the efficiency of operational learning programs, identifying trends and insights to make updates/improvements on an ongoing basis.
  • Support the organizational onboarding strategy for the hourly workforce, aligned with MLSE’s employee value proposition.
  • Identify learning partners to support content needs, continuously meeting with current and potential vendors.
  • Champion and support full inclusion by embedding Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) practices and delivering enterprise learning content as needed through MLSE’s LMS (Workday).
  • Partner with the HR Technology team to optimize Workday LMS functionality.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years in instructional design, e-learning development, training, or similar (L&D) experience; hospitality or food service industry preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with senior leadership to comprehend and evaluate L&D requirements and convert them into a detailed learning plan.
  • Experience conceptualizing, crafting, implementing, and completing new learning & development programs.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience with rapid eLearning development tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise 360) and experience with LMS administration an asset (Workday).
  • Proven critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Desire to continuously learn and innovate.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Outstanding communication and facilitation skills.
  • Committed to exceptional customer experience and driven by excellence.
