Description:

Reporting directly to the Director of Student Affairs, the Learning Strategist, Academic Integrity supports various student populations and is responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of a comprehensive and purposeful academic Integrity program that supports the promotion, enforcement and education of students around academic Integrity as it relates to the varied needs of learners at Thompson Rivers University (TRU). This position will enhance student success and retention.
The Learning Strategist, Academic Integrity will work collaboratively across the Faculty of Student Development and other university service units to both lead and support student, staff and volunteers. The Learning Strategist will work independently to complete assigned duties. Special project work, as assigned by the Director of Student Affairs is an important part of the position and the incumbent is accountable to coordinate projects to completion. Workloads may fluctuate and alter to meet the demands and needs of the varied learners being served.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years’ experience working with students; in the post-secondary context, including:
  • Experience with program development and program management.

  • Knowledge of the field of student development and related literature and research an asset.
  • Knowledge of the field of academic Integrity and related literature and research an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate strategies for increasing awareness of Academic Integrity for the institution that align with both the Faculty of Student Development and TRU’s Strategic Plan.
  • Liaise with institutional stakeholders (TRU World, Open Learning, Library, Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, etc.) to ensure access to information and cohesive service delivery related to Academic Integrity.
  • Develop and coordinate educational tools and strategies to support faculty in the education, reporting and teaching of Academic Integrity, including web and print materials, presentations and workshops.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and assessment of Academic Integrity initiatives by collecting data and analyzing data.
  • Coordinates, prepares and maintains documentation, records and reports including related budget and expense requirements.
  • Support the recruitment, training and supervision of student staff (co-op and work study), student volunteers and student peer mentors.
  • Manage confidential information for students and abide by TRU privacy rules set out in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
  • Recommend and collaborate to develop policy and processes with respect to student success and development in the area of Academic Integrity.
  • Participates in relevant committee and working groups to initiate and build student knowledge of Academic Integrity and success.
