LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT (KS2)
Location: Worthing
Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30 (Term Time Only)
A small primary school in Worthing is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide tailored support to pupils in Key Stage 2 with additional needs. In this role you will work with children on a one-to-one basis as well as in small groups, helping them to access their learning and overcome barriers in both academic and social settings. The successful candidate will have clear, demonstrable SEN experience and a good understanding of the challenges faced by children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). You must be able to show examples of supporting children with additional needs in a school or similar setting and be willing to work across different classes if required.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE/ATTRIBUTES
- Previous experience working with children that have special educational needs
- Experience working with ASC, ADHD, and other additional needs
- A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
- A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a team
- The ability to be adaptable, remain calm in challenging situations and respond to the needs of the pupils
- Must be able to understand and follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and behavioural policies
- Qualifications relating to education, special educational needs, counselling or psychology are not essential but will be looked upon favourably

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils in Key Stage 2
- Assist in implementing Pupil Learning Plans and other targeted support strategies
- Support children to build confidence and develop essential academic and social skills
- Collaborate with class teachers and support staff to ensure consistency in interventions
- Monitor pupil progress and adjust support as necessary
- Uphold the school’s safeguarding and behavioural policies
