MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- A PhD in the relevant field coupled with three to five years experience of Learning & Teaching in a Higher Education Institution,
- Strong Research and Publications record; particularly publications in Learning & Teaching is essential,
- Experience in staff development and supporting the integration of academic literacy into curricula will be advantageous.

Responsibilities:
The Faculty of Dentistry is a world-class Oral Health Centre committed to the promotion of oral health through the excellence of its Learning and Teaching, service rendering and research. As part of the strategic plan for Learning & Teaching, the University is vigorously promoting the Scholarship of Learning & Teaching.
The Faculty seeks to appoint a Learning & Teaching Specialist (Senior Lecturer rank), who will be responsible for the following:
- Supporting the Deputy Dean: Academic including Learning & Teaching in providing strategic leadership within the portfolio,
- Facilitating and disseminating innovative pedagogical practices in the Faculty,
- Facilitating the development of disciplinary and Faculty graduate attributes and monitoring how these are incorporated into Learning & Teaching activities and assessment tasks,
- Facilitating the integration of academic literacy into undergraduate and postgraduate curricula,
- Ensuring professional staff development in the area of Learning & Teaching,
- Managing, facilitating, monitoring and evaluating tutor training in the Faculty,
- Conducting research relevant/appropriate to teaching in the Faculty and developing strategies to address these,
- Conducting and managing student evaluations of Learning & Teaching and following up on recommendations for improved practice,
- Ensuring quality assurance in Learning & Teaching,
- Promoting the scholarship of teaching and learning in the Faculty by publishing, as well as collaborating with academics in the Faculty to publish in the field of Learning & Teaching,
- Provide support and guidance to students with learning challenges,
- Assist with the preparation of documentation for programme and professional reviews
