Description:

THE DEPARTMENT

Film and Theatre at Hallam is a dynamic and supportive community of staff and students, engaged in collaborative practice, with one another, our local communities and our regional arts sector. We have strong links with Sheffield’s cultural quarter, from the award-winning, multi-venue Sheffield Theatres, to a range of smaller fringe and community organisations.
Recent collaborations have involved our students and colleagues in major international arts events, such The Walk, as well as in developing performance work with acclaimed companies, such as The Babbling Vagabonds and Doppelgangster. At the heart of all our work, is our aim to support our students to become Change Makers: the next generation of socially engaged artists.
The Sheffield Creative Industries Institute at Sheffield Hallam University is home to over 50 undergraduate and postgraduate courses and a creative community of over 4,000 students and staff. We offer students a practice-led, research-enhanced learning experience where we challenge our students to achieve impact through their work and push social, cultural, environmental and economic boundaries.
Our graduates are confident, curious, enterprising, and responsive practitioners who recognise cultural diversity and maximise the opportunities their education provides them with. Graduates are world ready and work in careers regionally nationally and globally. They work for themselves in innovative and exciting businesses and for leading organisations, companies and cultural institutions.
We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.
You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.
Find out more about the TPS
If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the TPS and remain in the USS. Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.

Responsibilities:

The role will be deeply embedded within our engaged and knowledgeable Acting & Performance team.
You will join a collaborative teaching team to deliver core undergraduate modules and be supported to take on module leadership and other key academic duties, related to teaching, learning, assessment, recruitment and student support.
You will have the opportunity to get involved with our research culture and contribute to curriculum development work.
To maximise this post in line with the academic year we are ideally seeking candidates able to start as soon as possible.
