Description:

Applications are invited for a full-time Lecturer in Cancer Biology in the Division of Cancer Sciences.
To develop the next generation of cancer researchers, we are investing in teaching-focused roles to drive an innovative, research-led teaching portfolio. This Lectureship, on the University’s Teaching and Scholarship track, will provide an exciting in-on-the-ground-floor opportunity to join a passionate and growing team of cancer-focused educators. Working as part of the team and collaborating with researchers, you will take the lead in several areas, developing ideas, designing teaching pathways and innovating content, spanning undergraduate and post-graduate streams, and ensuring that cancer inequalities issues are weaved into our educational themes.
Our location adjacent to Europe’s largest single-site cancer hospital provides an inspiring, cancer-focused environment, with research activities spanning the continuum of discovery science, translational research and clinical studies. We are interested in individuals with a passion for cancer biology and improving patient outcomes and while you may not yet be focused on cancer education, you will have a vision for how your current research and/or educational skills could help us build an exciting teaching portfolio in global oncology with a strong Manchester-brand. You will be a future leader in education, driving innovations that enhance our strengths, and we will support you in the development of an aspirational teaching-focused career.
At Manchester, we embrace, celebrate and respect difference. We support each other to create an environment where everyone is able to reach their full potential. The Division’s ethos is to promote an inclusive and representative environment where all staff and students have voices with potential to influence positive change. We encourage applications from talented individuals from wide and diverse backgrounds, and in particular those currently underrepresented. The School of Medical Sciences holds a Silver Athena SWAN award which recognises good practice in relation to gender, flexible working arrangements, family-friendly policies, and good work-life balance. All appointments are made on merit.
