Description:
Responsibilities:
The Division of Pharmacy & Optometry is seeking to appoint a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic Lecturer in Clinical Pharmaceutical Science who will join our research teams focused on either “Medicines: design and delivery” or “Patients: diagnosis and therapy” and contribute to teaching leadership and innovation aligned with their subject expertise. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with expertise in clinical pharmaceutics and/or clinical therapeutics and translational research in disease areas of high unmet clinical need.
The post holder will be expected to develop and lead an independent research programme, supported by peer-reviewed funding, that complements and extends ongoing activities in the Division. They will have the ambition and the potential to become a leader in their field at a national and international level. They will be expected to initiate links with basic science and clinical groups across the University in order to advance their research programme. The post holder will also have the skills and experience to contribute to teaching and assessment, curriculum development, and other leadership activities related to the teaching of pharmacy within the Division. The post holder will be expected to develop and contribute to initiatives that aim to enhance our undergraduate teaching across programmes, with an emphasis on our recently launched BSc Clinical Pharmacy (dual award from China Pharmaceutical University and The University of Manchester). The post holder will be expected to lead on and contribute to the development of teaching including enquiry-based learning that enables students to translate their scientific understanding of medicine development to ensuring the best use of medication for individual patients. The post holder will engage in professional and personal development activities which are consistent with the needs and aspirations of the post-holder and the Division of Pharmacy and Optometry. A willingness to contribute as “flying faculty” to deliver short periods (2-3 weeks per year) of face-to-face teaching at the China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing would be highly desirable.
Applicants will have a first degree or equivalent in pharmacy or a related subject (e.g. pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical sciences), with a PhD or equivalent in a relevant area.
