About Us
King’s Foundations is a department within the Centre for International Education and Languages (CIEL) which provides high-quality international pathway, academic skills, and English language preparation courses for King’s students. Our mission is to enable and empower students to be the best they can be as part of a world-leading university. Valuing diversity, inclusivity, and cultural competency, we provide an outstanding student experience that integrates academic excellence with comprehensive support. We are a team of around 115 colleagues (increasing to over 150 in the summer months) committed to achieving this mission. The department has an annual turnover of around £30 million.
We are currently enhancing our King’s International Foundation Programme and are seeking an experienced educator to contribute to its continued development.
About The Role
King’s Foundations is looking for an experienced professional to join our team as a Lecturer in Economics Education.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching highly capable and motivated international students on the King’s International Foundation, a one-year, RQF Level 3 programme for those intending to progress to undergraduate degrees at the university. They will enable students to achieve their potential and progress to King’s as independent, critical, and creative learners. They will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of the Social Sciences module and other similar modules such as Economics or Business Management.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach on Economics and other related modules on the King’s International Foundation.
Deliver a high-quality student experience, providing effective and informed feedback and advice, and ensuring best practice in all student interactions.
Commit to the development of cultural competence, engaging a wide range of students by recognising and adapting to different learning styles.
Act as a personal tutor to a group of students, providing both academic and pastoral support, including safeguarding duties for students under 18.
Provide cover for teaching and other teaching related duties.
Conduct scholarly activity related to the role and department goals and disseminate findings within the institution and the wider sector.
This role will be joining King’s Foundations at an exciting time as we support our teaching staff to transfer over to Academic Education Pathway (AEP) contracts. The role will be subject to a probationary period of 3 years, in line with other academic roles at the College.
We welcome applications from individuals with a strong background in business education and experience in teaching international students. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of educational development at King’s Foundations.
