SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area (essential).
  • Experience of current Studio practice with a portfolio of industry experience. (essential)
  • Experience of Learning and Teaching at Higher Education level (essential)
  • Hold a PgCert HE teaching qualification or be accredited via the UK Professional Standards Framework for Higher Education?or Undertake APA teaching qualification as required. (desirable)
  • Understanding of the requirements of the industry, locally, nationally, and globally.
  • Understanding of the sustainable environmental, geo-political and economic issues of the industry and steps which are being taken to address these.
  • Strong communication, demonstration and presentation skills
  • Pastoral support and guidance of staff and students
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and Adobe packages
  • Application of EDI good practice to widen participation and engage all students
  • Strong organisational skills in planning
  • Flexibility in working practices.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for delivering and developing a range of modules related to fine jewellery and silversmithing.
  • Support the students in learning traditional hand fabrication and design skills required to work within the?established, commercial?jewellery and silversmithing industry.
  • Work with the Course team to develop the course content and learning materials.
  • Liaise with the local and wider jewellery industry to ensure that the course is relevant and to offer appropriate additional opportunities to our students.
  • Engage in Academic administration.?
  • Provide Pastoral support of students, with an active role in personal tutoring.
  • Participate in Recruitment and outreach activities.
  • Implement University policies around Health and Safety, Wellbeing, Environment, Safeguarding.
  • Uphold BCU Values.
