Description:

RELEASE DATE:

Wednesday 29 January 2025
Aston Law School’s mission is to be a distinctive law school that combines academic rigour with practical insight, for ‘future ready’ law graduates. We do so as The Guardian’s University of the Year 2020, with Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework, Gold in Athena Swan, and as one of the leading universities for entrepreneurship and social mobility.
We have a flourishing and supportive environment for research in law, and we welcome applications from candidates with specialisms in any area of legal research. Applications will be considered on the basis of outputs, grant applications and capture, the impact of the research, as well as your plans over the next few years. We recognise that, for a lectureship, we are investing in your potential. Candidates invited to interview will be asked to explain how their research plans align with the Aston 2030 Strategy, with reference to challenging injustices and promoting justice in spheres of interest to our engagement with diverse communities from the West Midlands to the rest of the world.
We are committed to delivering a distinctive undergraduate programme that meets the requirements of twenty-first-century employers. Our programme therefore teaches a combination of ‘traditional’ law subjects alongside innovative subjects that provide the academic grounding for skills and attributes of modern lawyers (for example, problem-solving and legal project management). We teach and research by drawing on our links with other schools in the University, as well as with businesses and the legal profession.
If you are interested in joining our friendly and vibrant community of scholars, we would like to hear from you.

The demonstrable ability to contribute to any of the following areas would be an advantage:

  • Commercial Law and Business Law (including, but not limited to, Domestic and International Sale of Goods)
  • Technology Law and Policy (including, but not limited to AI, Data Protection, and Emerging Technologies)
  • Legal and professional skills

There are x2 full time positions available for this role.
