Responsibilities:

Birmingham City University invites applications for Lecturer in Smart Systems to support and advance its growth in this discipline.
The University focuses on practice-led, problem-based learning, providing access to cutting-edge facilities and real-world experience. Our lecturing staff are research active, and engaged externally, maintaining currency and strong links with industry ensuring students are given an insight into the growing area of smart systems to help them learn and succeed. In recognition of this we are looking to recruit exceptional academic staff who are at the cutting-edge of the smart systems discipline, believe in practice-based learning, possess exceptional communication skills, and are a team player.
You will be expected to support teaching & learning for undergraduate/postgraduate modules, provide pastoral care to students, engage in cutting-edge research, and contribute to recruitment and outreach activities. You will develop and deliver engaging teaching and learning in a variety of settings from small group tutorials to large lectures. You will also set and mark assessments providing timely and constructive feedback to students. Further, you will explore and innovate ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback. You will be expected to engage in cutting-edge research and enterprise activities through own-initiative and collaboration with peers in academia and industry, leading to external funding and publications in reputable venues.
You will possess core skillset with experience of teaching at university level within different topics of smart systems. You will also have a proven track record of publishing research articles at reputable venues and an ability to develop research proposals to seek external funding. You will be passionate about supporting students through their educational journey and keen to learn and adopt inclusive practices to engage with students from diverse abilities and backgrounds.
With core skills and knowledge within including IoT, AI, machine learning, automation, and related technologies, candidates with expertise in Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, and Future Networks are particularly encouraged to apply.
