COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Addresses the specific knowledge and skills required for advanced social work practice in a school setting. Examines roles, responsibilities and the functions of a social worker in educational settings to promote well-being and system change. Emphasizes meeting the needs of diverse student populations and families from a macro-practice perspective. Course content is designed to meet and exceed the Pupil Personnel Services Credential Program Standards set forth by the State of California.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Social Work degree
- PPS credentials in School Social Work and Child Welfare and Attendance
- Extensive experience (4 years or more) as a school social worker
- Experience in supervising students in the school setting
- Knowledge of related state regulations
- Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working within the State of California is a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Experience with child welfare services
- Experience in teaching university classes and with instructional technology.
- Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
SALARY COMMENSURATE WITH DEGREE LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE
- Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
