Responsibilities:

The School of Allied Health is seeking to appoint a Lecturer Practitioner (0.8FTE) Maternity cover in Patient Assessment & Management to work in support of our clinical programme delivery, most prominently in Paramedic Science. This post will be based in Cambridge - there may be travel across sites. As a health professional with a background in pre-hospital, emergency medicine or primary care, you will be able to transfer your clinical experience and knowledge of assessing and treating patients to support the development of our student practitioners. Experience may be from the community, hospital, or emergency care setting(s).
We are currently entering an exciting phase of our journey and looking for people who wish to help shape our current and future provision including the development of new MSc and short course activities. In total, we are recruiting for an additional seven posts to grow our current team of 15 colleagues. Joining a large multidisciplinary team, with great support from professional services and other health professionals, you will help design and deliver teaching sessions to best convey knowledge and skills, as well as create innovative ways in which to support student performance and success. You will contribute to the working dynamic of the team and work closely with colleagues to enrich the student experience. You will engage in scholarly activities and work closely with our placement providers.
As a lecturer practitioner you will receive support towards developing your teaching skills through our PgCert programme and have the freedom to maintain your clinical practice outside of the four academic working days. In return, we offer a positive work life balance with a focus on outcomes. Wherever possible, we encourage flexibility and autonomy in how you achieve those outcomes – we are looking for entrepreneurial and design-based thinkers, willing to challenge and shape the future of healthcare education.
With a degree or relevant professional qualification, you’ll have relevant clinical experience and the ability to work co-operatively and as part of a team. We are particularly keen to hear from those with ED experience, nursing, midwifery, or mental health training as well as other medical/clinical professions. As part of your application, we will ask you to identify your areas of clinical practice and training. We are also keen to hear from those with ideas for the future of healthcare, digital innovation, and the future of higher education.
You’ll be committed to exploring and sharing your knowledge with our students, and to offering them the best possible experience whilst studying with us. You will have relevant clinical experience in a patient assessment and treatment and an understanding of how to engage students with a wide variety of abilities and from diverse backgrounds. This is a great opportunity for committed and innovative individuals to join our school and make a difference to future generations of practitioners.
Informal enquiries can be made to Marty Chamber, Deputy Head of school on Marty.Chambers@aru.ac.uk
