Description:
Applications are invited for the position of lecturer/senior lecturer in the Discipline of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of the Witwatersrand. This is a permanent/full time position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
For the position of senior lecturer, the following requirements are necessary:
• An undergraduate degree in Speech Language Pathology or Speech Language Pathology and Audiology.
• A PhD in Speech Language Pathology or a related field.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Speech Language Therapist and Audiologist or Speech Language Therapist.
• Clinical and/or teaching and/or research experience in voice disorders.
• A track record of publication of prior research and conference presentation
• A track record of competent teaching and/or clinical supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• A track record of academic citizenship.
• A track record of research/grant funding will be an advantage.
For the position of lecturer, the following requirements are necessary:
• An undergraduate degree in Speech Language Pathology or Speech Language Pathology and Audiology.
• A PhD in Speech Language Pathology or a related field.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Speech Language Therapist and Audiologist or Speech Language Therapist.
• Applicants who hold an appropriate Health Professionals Council of South Africa registration, and have substantial progress towards a PhD (but have not yet graduated) may be considered.
• A minimum of two years clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Clinical and/or teaching and/or research experience in voice disorders.
• At least 2 publications in past 2-3 years would be an advantage.
• Track record of competent teaching and/or clinical supervision would be preferred.
• Record of service an advantage.
This post will be filled at either at the level of senior lecturer or lecturer.
DUTIES: These will include: (a) lecturing under-graduate courses in Speech-Language Pathology; (b) clinical supervision of students in the under-graduate programme; (c) research supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and (d) administrative duties in the Department and School.
