COURSE DESCRIPTION

Focuses on low-incidence communication disorders and augmentative and alternative methods of communication. Presents theories and principles in the onset, development, and maintenance of fluency in children and adults. Covers etiological and structural factors associated with cleft lip and palate and resulting difficulties in areas related to communication, such as speech, language, and hearing. Explores approaches to support individuals with complex communication needs, including assistive technology. Reviews current best practices in prevention, assessment, and treatment for populations across the lifespan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A master’s degree within the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Expertise in working with individuals who stutter or have fluency disorders
  • CA SLP state license
  • ASHA CCC’s

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A doctorate degree with an emphasis in Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence withdiverse groups in relation to teaching.

SALARY COMMENSURATE WITH DEGREE LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE

  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,007 - $6,359 per full-time month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,007 - $12,594 per full-time month
