Duties
As a Legal Administrative Specialist in the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO), you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a variety of technical, analytical, and legal support services to the District of Wyoming. At the full performance level, your duties will include:
Providing technical advice to litigation teams (attorney’s, legal staff, etc.) on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities to facilitate litigation decisions, trial preparation and trial presentation.
Analyzing litigation support requirements to develop or recommend appropriate strategies to meet litigation needs.
Organizing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval through automated means such as scanning, indexing, and controlling of documents into a database.
Preparing computerized trial presentation programs.
Using and appropriately employing a variety of software packages, file sharing platforms, and records management systems including database, spreadsheet and word processing applications such as: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Trial Director, Concordance, Eclipse, Time Map, Case Map, eScan It, NetDocuments, Adobe, USAfx, etc., based on which software would be most effective for presentation of complex and voluminous evidence or for production of graphic demonstrative evidence, as well as meeting individual user needs.
Preparing, maintaining, calendaring, and tracking a variety of case and trial-related documents, e.g., grand jury documents, pleadings, discovery, exhibit lists, jury instructions, trial subpoenas, etc., by applying a thorough knowledge of the Federal Rules of Evidence and Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure and applying practical litigative experience.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications
GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-9 level; or Education, or a Combination of Education and Experience.
Specialized Experience is defined as experience working in a legal environment providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and systems capabilities; using electronic means to organize and manage case specific discovery; assisting attorneys with automated trial preparation and presentation; preparing computerized presentations using a variety of software packages including database, spreadsheet, trial presentation, audio editing and video editing applications; or processing and indexing digital evidence using computer litigation support software; or diagnosing and resolving litigation support computer system hardware and software problems.
Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, Criminal Justice) a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
