Your role & work environment
The Legal Department provides Legal support and advice to all departments of ING. As a result, Legal is closely involved in the business they support.
Legal Procurement & IT provides legal advice and assistance to ING Belgium’s Procurement and other departments on legal requirements applicable to ING Belgium and its subsidiaries, regarding regulatory, IP and IT law, both for ad hoc legal matters as on strategic projects.
As Legal Advisor Procurement & IT, you will be part of the Legal Procurement, IT and Insurable Risks team, part of ING Belgium’s Legal Department. You will report to the Head of Legal PIIR.
Your key responsibilities
You will:
- Provide legal support and advice to the procurement department and other internal stakeholders (e.g. IT, the Retail, Business and Wholesale Banking segments, Marketing, HR, Corporate Real Estate and Facility Services, …), for the conclusion of contracts for the purchase of goods or services, outsourcing agreements and partnership or sponsoring agreements.
- You will draft, review and interpret, and generally follow up all legal aspects of these agreements;
- You will assist and support the procurement officers in the commercial and legal negotiations with the suppliers,
- You will negotiate with ING’s suppliers (and their commercial or legal representatives) and internal customers, to solve issues and disputes;
- You will negotiate with other ING entities around the world regarding Intra-Group agreements for the provision of services from one entity to another;
Depending on the project, the scope of the activities is local (contracts at the level of ING Belgium or one of its subsidiaries), regional (contracts for ING Business Units in different countries) and global (contracts at ING group level).
- Be the first point of contact within ING for legal questions related to third party providers and/or information technology:
- These questions touch on topics such as outsourcing regulations, data protection, data retention and archiving, intellectual property rights, … but also specific regulations like DORA, NIS2, …;
- You will also provide training and presentations to the internal stakeholders on key legal issues that impact the business;
- Collaborate in the bank’s risk management process, specifically in the context of IT and procurement.

As a Legal Advisor Procurement & IT you have:
- A master’s degree in law
- Experience and/or interest in IT and data protection
- Ideally 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) and excellent knowledge of Dutch and French.
