Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently recruiting a Legal & Contract Specialist to be based in either Newcastle or Hartlepool offices and work as part of the JDR Legal and Contracts team that provides contractual, legal, and commercial support across a range of matters including client tenders, disputes and claims to mitigate contractual and legal risk within JDR Group. This role will also deal with contract preparation across all JDR Inc.’s product groups and services.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Dealing with the commercial review of customer enquiries relating to the purchase of all JDR’s products, including reviewing terms and conditions of contracts and advising on JDR exceptions.
- Conducting contract negotiations with customers and supplier/subcontractors to agree mutually acceptable contract terms that minimise risks to JDR.
- Reviewing customer purchase orders and producing the necessary documentation to process the order and hand over to Project Services.
- Provide legal and contractual advice to Sales and Project Managers in relation to the contract terms to ensure they are aware of the contractual and legal obligations of JDR.
- Feeding into the JDR corporate insurance provision with respect to the US local insurance requirements.
- Legal support to the business on wide variety matters including without limitation employee claims, commercial leases etc.
- To communicate with stakeholders and partners as required, building relationships and contributing to the engagement activities of the department including supporting events such as training sessions and workshops. You will be an advocate for the department, sharing good practice and representing the aims and policies of JDR in a friendly and professional manner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
You should ideally be a qualified Legal Executive or Solicitor, or hold a formal legal qualification and have experience in the review and negotiation of terms and conditions of a contract, as well as experience in the resolution of disputes and warranty claims. We are looking for someone who has a solid understanding of commercial contracts having gained this experience in the construction or energy industry.
You will be a strong communicator, as this role will require you to work across a wide number of stakeholders. You will be experienced at working to tight deadlines and have the ability to work to successfully manage your own workload and deal with conflicting priorities on your time. You will be highly organised and have a good working knowledge of all MS Office packages.
We operate a hybrid working approach where you will be required to work a minimum of three days a week in the office and the other two days a week from home if you wish
