We are seeking an experienced legal assistant for the health law practice area with excellent organizational skills, a high attention to detail and is proficient at anticipating work and taking the initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Recognized 2-year Legal Assistant Diploma.
  • Experience working in the health law practice area.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent follow-up and bring-forward skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and handle high pressure deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Booking appointments/briefings with nurses and corporate Representatives.
  • Scheduling meetings and/or questioning and mediations.
  • Providing back-up for other assistants in their absence.
  • Entering lawyer’s time.
  • Billing, including client follow up on outstanding A/R.
  • Coordinating searches: Titles, encumbrances, plans, taxes & corporate.
  • Submitting/Filing documents (i.e., LTO, Courthouse).
  • Accessing online legal resources.
  • Responding to internal and external requests.
  • Meeting/liaising/reporting to clients.
  • Organizing documents and binders.
  • Ensuring file management system is kept current.
  • Submitting lawyer’s receipts for reimbursement.
  • Managing the diarization of important dates.
  • Overseeing the opening and closing of files as well as filing of physical documents.
  • Preparing letters and legal documents as well as amending and comparing.
