We are seeking an experienced legal assistant for the health law practice area with excellent organizational skills, a high attention to detail and is proficient at anticipating work and taking the initiative.

QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS
- 5+ years of experience
- Recognized 2-year Legal Assistant Diploma.
- Experience working in the health law practice area.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent follow-up and bring-forward skills.
- Strong analytical skills and problem solving with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and handle high pressure deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Booking appointments/briefings with nurses and corporate Representatives.
- Scheduling meetings and/or questioning and mediations.
- Providing back-up for other assistants in their absence.
- Entering lawyer’s time.
- Billing, including client follow up on outstanding A/R.
- Coordinating searches: Titles, encumbrances, plans, taxes & corporate.
- Submitting/Filing documents (i.e., LTO, Courthouse).
- Accessing online legal resources.
- Responding to internal and external requests.
- Meeting/liaising/reporting to clients.
- Organizing documents and binders.
- Ensuring file management system is kept current.
- Submitting lawyer’s receipts for reimbursement.
- Managing the diarization of important dates.
- Overseeing the opening and closing of files as well as filing of physical documents.
- Preparing letters and legal documents as well as amending and comparing.
