Flint Bishop provides the complete commercial debt recovery service from panel leading ‘DCA’ stage pre-legal bulk collections through to cost-effective litigation, all handled in-house by a Legal 500 ‘Tier 1’ law firm.
We provide the full end-to-end recovery service, delivered to the highest quality standards.
We are looking to hire 3 x Legal Assistants for our new team in Cardiff.
As a Legal Assistant you will play a vital role within our Debt Recovery department by assisting in the management and progression of debt recovery claims through the County Court. You will ensure that clients, represented by Flint Bishop, receive pro-active, consistent, and efficient levels of service.
The role is full time, Monday to Friday 36.25 hour per week at our office in Cardiff, reporting to the Partner for the Cardiff Office.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
You will:
- Have excellent telephone handling skills and be a strong communicator.
- Preferably have previous experience in debt recovery.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Be focused on resolutions and positive outcomes.
- Have excellent time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines with your caseloads.
- Be enthusiastic and work hard to develop with the team and the business.
- Be committed but patient with the journey, career progression opportunities are available and our business is growing, but you must show that you can master the collections advisor role and fully understand it to open up conversations about promotion or progression - we will work with you on your development.

Responsibilities:
- Dealing with a diverse portfolio of client and debts in all sectors
- Handling own caseload of files from pre-litigation through to litigation, enforcement and insolvency proceedings under supervision. Dealing with incoming telephone calls and correspondence from our clients and debtors
- Assisting with the preparation of standardised documents, to include Particulars of Claim, Replies to Defence, Defence to Counterclaim, Directions Questionnaires, Witness Statements
- Liaising with the Courts to obtain information and copy documents
- Making outbound and receiving inbound telephone calls to our clients and debtors.
- Working to clients agreed or departmental levels of service (service standards).
- Deal wherever possible with routine enquiries and communications from our client, ensuring that they are suitably updated on the progress of each matter.
