About the role and team
Anthony Collins are currently recruiting for a Legal Assistant to join their childcare team.
The team represents children and adults in public law care proceedings issued by local authorities and also children in private law court cases.
We are a well-established leading law firm in childcare. As a thriving team, we are recruiting legal assistants to continue to grow the team. The role will involve working with all members of the team, across the spectrum of our work and will be based in Birmingham.
Key Duties of the role:
- Assist in the preparation of cases
- Attend meetings with clients, conferences and court hearings to attend counsel, taking comprehensive notes
- Undertake routine drafting
- Undertake analysis of documentary evidence
- Assist in and undertake legal research
- Deal with routine correspondence and telephone calls and monitor and respond to emails
- Maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity in all dealings with clients, colleagues, the Court and all people with whom you come into contact
- Accurately and comprehensively to record all time spent in accordance with the firm’s time recording system
- Carry out such administrative duties as may be required on files maintained and supervised by fee earners
- Ensure files are compliant with Lexcel and the Legal Aid Agency standards (training will be provided where necessary)
- Prepare and submit applications to the Legal Aid Agency and deal with funding enquiries (funding will be provided where necessary)
- Develop knowledge and understanding by attendance at relevant in house training sessions to support personal and career development. Those undertaking the CILEX qualification must ensure they complete their CPD requirements.
- Attend and assist in the preparation for business development events
- To carry out all other reasonable duties, as requested.
About the candidate
You will need to be hard working, organised, a good communicator, have excellent attention to detail and accuracy and be committed to providing high quality service to our clients as well as being a strong team player.
You will ideally have experience in childcare proceedings.
