We are currently seeking a motivated and organized Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our civil litigation team.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Legal Assistant/Paralegal, you will provide essential support to our litigation team by managing case files, drafting documents, conducting research, and assisting lawyers in all stages of the litigation process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a strong understanding of civil litigation procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, specifically in civil litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation processes and court rules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Paralegal certification (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting, proofreading, and formatting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and undertakings.
  • Prepare and file legal documents with courts and administrative bodies.
  • Manage case files and ensure all documents are organized, up to date, and filed correctly.
  • Assist lawyers with trial/hearing preparation, including preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare case summaries.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel in a professional and timely manner.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, examinations for discoveries, hearings, and trials.
  • Monitor case deadlines and ensure all filing deadlines are met.
  • Provide general administrative support, including drafting correspondence, managing calendars, and handling confidential information.
