Description:

Rachel Miller with Robert Half is partnering on an exciting opportunity for a Legal Assistant in Albany, New York. As a key part of the legal team, you will be tasked with a range of administrative and clerical duties to support a group of attorneys. Your role will encompass the preparation of legal documents, interacting with clients, scheduling, and utilizing practice specific software.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and format various legal documents, memos, and correspondence.
  • Proofread materials for correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting.
  • Prioritize and organize workload to comply with the deadlines set by attorneys.
  • Manage and maintain client files, including records related to clients and the firm.
  • Schedule court depositions, court reporters, expert witnesses, hearings, and other special functions.
  • Coordinate a variety of accounting duties including pro forma edits, check requests, matter intake and matter update forms, and various billing tasks.
  • Enhance job knowledge and skills by participating in educational and training opportunities.
  • Use legal terminology, legal forms and documents, legal practices and procedures to perform duties.
  • Assist other Legal Assistants outside of the practice team as required.
  • Make travel or conference arrangements as needed.

  • Possession of a degree or certification relevant to the legal field
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents, agreements, and contracts
  • Ability to handle legal billing and correspondence effectively
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology and principles
  • Proven experience in legal writing
  • Good understanding of litigation procedures as a paralegal
  • Prior experience as a Legal Assistant is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in using computer software and online databases for legal research
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • High level of discretion for both client and firm information
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and adhere to ethical standards.
