Description:

The award winning Wilhite Law Firm, a highly esteemed personal injury firm, is looking for a dedicated, bilingual litigation legal assistant. This role will support attorneys and paralegals in providing administrative support, research, and follow up with clients, experts, and firm staff. Bilingual Spanish/English helpful.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience in use of legal software, case management, and docketing programs.
  • Able to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates should have strong organizational, follow-up, detail orientation, and communication skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred and given preference.
  • Punctual and able to be on site in the office.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • An associate degree, some college, or related experience preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1-2 years of prior experience in a personal injury law firm as a secretary or administrative assistant, or if entry level, 3-5 years of experience with high volume administrative work necessitating organization and following up on tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer in an office.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares draft letters, drafts pleadings and subpoenas and completes forms.
  • Reviews medical records and other confidential information.
  • Files documents with courts or other agencies.
  • Communicates with clients, attorneys, subject matter experts.
  • Follows up and drives the legal document process to ensure timeliness.
  • Follows up and drives the value tab processes to ensure accuracy.
  • Negotiates balances with medical providers and lien holders.
  • Respond to emails and phone calls, contact opposing attorney offices, and inform the team of deadlines.
  • Consult with expert witnesses, clients, medical professionals, and vendors.
  • Ordering medical and billing records and electronically filing in state and federal courts
  • Help prepare litigation documents like pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs, and proofread as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
