Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

To provide a professional cashier service for the firm and its clients by carrying out all accounts
activities accurately and efficiently
To ensure that SRA Solicitors Accounts Rules in relation to accounting transactions are adhered to
at all times
To uphold our values of Honesty, Respect and Teamwork, and work in accordance with the
Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Principles and Code of Conduct
To contribute to our mission of establishing lifelong relationships with all our clients by
anticipating and responding to their needs for quality legal services

MAIN DUTIES

  1. To ensure that all accounting transactions comply with SRA Solicitors Accounting Rules
  2. To report any suspected breaches of those rules to the appropriate named officers
  3. To undertake a range of financial tasks, processes and transactions relating to and including:
    o Billing
    o CHAPS and BACS payments
    o Petty Cash
    o Bank and credit card reconciliation
    o Funds transfers
    o File transfers
    o Updating and monitoring various records
    o Nominal ledgers
    o Payment of expenses
    o Month end and year end accounting procedures and balancing
    o VAT compliance
    o Production of reports
    o Initial debtor control procedures
  4. To liaise with staff from across the firm in relation to financial queries and transactions
  5. To deal with queries from with clients in relation to financial issues as required and ensure high
    levels of client care at all times

GENERAL DUTIES

1 To work in a flexible way to ensure that the workload is completed and to undertake any other
jobs commensurate with the level of the post.
2 To establish, maintain and enhance team-working with colleagues and staff of Ellis-Fermor and
Negus
3 To keep confidential all information about individuals and the business of Ellis-Fermor and Negus
and work within the guidelines of the GDPR.
4 To abide by our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Safety, Anti Money Laundering
Policies and all other relevant policies
