Description:

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Legal Cashier to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing financial transactions within a legal environment, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maintaining accurate financial records. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and familiarity with various accounting software. Previous experience in a legal cashier position, along with a SOLAS qualification, is required.

Reporting To The Partner, Your Key Responsibilities will include

  • Process all financial transactions accurately.
  • Conducting daily and monthly bank reconciliations. ensuring all payments are accurately recorded
  • Processing invoices and disbursements for legal services
  • Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports as required, providing insights into cash flow and account status.
  • Monitor client accounts for irregularities and reporting any discrepancies
  • Liaise with clients and internal departments to resolve any discrepancies or queries related to financial transactions.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing CHAPS & BACS payments through online banking
  • Process petty cash payments and expenses
  • Ensure compliance with the Law Society of Scotland accounts rules and other relevant regulations.
  • Handling of general account queries
  • Assist with other legal finance related tasks as required by the team
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting software or systems as needed

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a legal cashiering role or similar financial position is essential.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication skills.
