Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Legal Claims Assistant II to join our growing team!

WHAT YOU’LL DO HERE:

  • Provide administrative support such as scheduling meetings, photocopying, drafting correspondence, preparing pleadings, affidavits of record and application materials, creating and updating trial binders, etc.
  • File management - Implement an effective diary system to help manage the lawyer’s practice.
  • Partner with assigned lawyers in managing workflow, scheduling appearances, monitoring calendars and meeting various deadlines.
  • Support clients to schedule appointments; exchange and obtain information and communicate file progress.
  • Review and manage documents with software programs, ensuring electronic filing is up to date.
  • Providing support to assistants, clerks, lawyers, and management, which may include the following tasks as required from time to time:
  • All facets related to undertakings: preparing the initial undertaking chart, corresponding with counsel to request undertakings, reviewing answers received to determine whether the undertaking is satisfied, assisting with drafting motion materials to compel answers to undertakings
  • All aspects of arranging Independent Examinations, including assisting in retaining experts, preparing briefs for experts, corresponding with counsel to arrange attendance of their client.
  • Reviewing and summarizing document productions and other materials, including medical records.
  • Trial/Arbitration preparation
  • Proficiency in dictation with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Update knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
