Description:

The Legal Collections Manager has various tasks, including conducting legal research, drafting, and reviewing documents/contracts. Please review the job description attached.
Job Description:
- Oversee the Legal Collections Process: Manage the legal recovery of debts, ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state, and local laws.
- Team Management: Supervise a team of collection agents and legal support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Legal Strategy Development: Collaborate with legal counsel to develop strategies for handling delinquent accounts, including litigation, negotiation, and settlement.
- Case Management: Oversee the preparation and filing of lawsuits, garnishments, judgments, and other legal documentation required to recover debts.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all collections activities comply with the regulations, bankruptcy laws, and other regulations governing debt recovery.
- Client and Stakeholder Relations: Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide updates on legal collection efforts. Act as a liaison between clients and legal teams.
- Debt Settlement Negotiation: Negotiate settlements, payment plans, and debt repayment agreements with debtors or their legal representatives.
- Litigation Support: Coordinate with external or in-house attorneys for litigation, including gathering necessary documentation and attending court hearings when required.
- Reporting: Generate reports on collection activities, legal outcomes, and team performance, presenting data to senior management or clients.
- Budget Management: Monitor department expenses and manage the budget for legal collections activities.

Skills and Qualification;
- Education: Legal or paralegal certification preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in debt collections, with a focus on legal collections. Previous management experience is required.
- Knowledge of Collections Law: Deep understanding of the rules and regulations, bankruptcy law, and state-specific collection laws.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, team management, and organizational skills.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, legal teams, and debtors.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate payment plans and settlements with debtors.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to resolve conflicts and find solutions to complex legal and financial issues.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in collections software, case management tools, and legal documentation.
