Want to bring ideas to life?
You are no doubt aware of Aurecon – we’ve been a leading design, engineering and advisory company for decades. But why should you choose to join us?
Every project Aurecon delivers leaves a legacy. Every project has sustainability embedded in decision making. And every project is at the leading-edge of technical eminence.
But it really comes down to one, crucial question: what kind of world do you want to create for the next generation? Truth is, the decisions being made right now will determine the future of everything – from the local community to the entire planet. One of those decisions is: who do you decide to work for?
The role
We are looking for a highly skilled Legal Counsel with 2-3 years of post-qualification experience to support our legal team in navigating the complexities of digital law, eminence, IP, and procurement. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Australian law in these areas and be able to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Digital Law: Provide legal guidance on digital platforms, technology transactions, data protection, privacy laws, and digital content issues. Ensure compliance with Australian and international digital regulations.
- Eminence: Advise on legal matters related to reputational management, brand protection, and strategic communications. Support the development and implementation of strategies to safeguard the company’s public image.
- Intellectual Property (IP): Manage IP portfolios, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Oversee IP-related agreements, such as licensing and assignment agreements, and handle IP disputes and enforcement actions.
- Procurement: Assist in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing procurement contracts. Advise on compliance with procurement laws and regulations and address legal issues arising from supplier relationships and procurement processes.
- Legal Research & Compliance: Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant laws and regulations. Conduct legal research and provide updates and recommendations to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including business units and senior management, to provide legal support and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and admission to practice law in Australia.
- Experience: 2-3 years of PQE in Digital, Eminence, IP, and Procurement law.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Australian digital, IP, and procurement law.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to provide clear, pragmatic legal advice in a business context.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
