Location: Newbury or London, hybrid working
Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits
Working Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week or part time – Mon to Fri}

WHO YOU ARE

  • Good technical grounding in relevant areas of law
  • Experience of managing multiple workstreams and multiple stakeholders, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Good decision-making skills and ability to identify and communicate key risks to internal customers (including at Board level) and UK legal management team
  • Strong appetite to learn about Vodafone UK’s business
  • Ability to operate effectively with the Competition legal team, other parts of the UK legal team and Vodafone Group legal teams to deliver high- quality coordinated legal advice in a way that embodies Vodafone’s values

•Desire to work in a multi-disciplined team and to expand expertise into new practice areas within the team’s remit.•University honours degree (second class or better) or equivalent higher education qualification

  • Qualified lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, Chartered Legal Executive or equivalent) with experience practising in either private practice or in an in-house role
  • Proficient drafting skills
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills and able to drive projects to successful completion
  • Sound knowledge of relevant areas of law and a clear understanding of the operational, commercial and legal risks with a demonstratable ability to take a proactive and solutions-focussed approach
  • Excellent communication skills and able to deliver concise, clear, practical and logical advice tailored to the audience
  • Telecoms sector experience desirable but not essential

Responsibilities:

Legal Counsel within the Vodafone UK Competition legal team, providing first-class, solutions-focussed advice on all aspects of competition law and telecoms regulation across all levels of Vodafone’s UK business.

  • Work closely with colleagues in the broader Legal function to help them identify and resolve competition law queries.
  • Establish relationships with key partners across the business at all levels, to identify relevant competition law risks and provide an enthusiastic and timely response.
  • Support the annual competition law compliance plan, including the provision of face-to-face training and preparation of key compliance messages, and manage the tracking and reporting of the legal team’s compliance with that plan.
  • Support Vodafone’s competition law compliance across projects and agreements with competitors and third parties, including Vodafone’s network sharing arrangements, mergers, joint ventures, wholesale agreements and collaborative agreements.
  • Work with the Regulatory team to provide input into regulatory consultations on policy initiatives and regulatory constructs.
  • Assist in the management of regulatory investigations & litigation.
