Description:
This individual will rovide legal support to various business units in support of the company’s strategic initiatives. This individual will be responsible for supporting contracting and bid processes in connection with government and non-government customers. This individual will also support compliance programs related to state level regulations concerning procurement
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Law degree (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active law license enabling in-house practice in Michigan, either current or attainable upon hiring through state reciprocity
- 3-5 years of sophisticated in-house or law firm experience focusing on government contracting and/or commercial contracting
- Experience managing contractual negotiations from start to finish
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to operate effectively within a team and prioritize competing needs
- Sound business judgment and client counseling experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience providing state government lobbying compliance support

Responsibilities:
- Support commercial teams in connection with government contracting activities
- With oversight of the General Counsel:
- review and draft contract documents pertaining to state government contracting activities to protect the company’s legal and business interests
- review and draft contract documents and support negotiation of terms with commercial customers to protect the company’s legal and business interests
- review and draft procurement contracts in support of business activities to protect the company’s legal and business interests
- Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments in state lobbying and related areas and drive training and employee education
- Handle other project-based work within the legal department on an as-needed basis
