We are looking for an aspiring lawyer to join the London Legal team that supports the European structured finance business of the bank, known as Global Financing and Credit Trading Europe (GFCT), which is part of Deutsche Bank’s leading Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) franchise. The role will involve the legal and regulatory risk management of new and existing transactions for GFCT, many of which are international, novel or bespoke.
In this role, you will be focusing on the Asset Backed Securities/securitisation (ABS), the Commercial Real Estate (CRE), the Distressed Products Group, the Portfolios, and the Securitised Trading businesses, which each involve a wide range of products and structures (in the case of ABS, CRE, Portfolios, and Securitised Trading, very often European and UK Securitisation Regulation-compliant securitisations). There will be plenty of opportunities for the successful candidate to experience other areas of GFCT (such as Aviation, Shipping, Fund Financing, etc.), and wider FIC businesses, including Emerging Markets and the Strategic Equity Transactions Group.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified lawyer, with solid post-qualification experience
  • Team player who is flexible and commercially minded;
  • Proficient and broad technical knowledge in banking and finance, and relevant regulatory regimes
  • Willingness to tackle new products and regulatory developments and initiatives;
  • Experience of loan and bond format securitisation financing documentation; and
  • A working understanding of derivative documentation

Responsibilities:

  • Providing robust legal and regulatory advice to the business on all aspects of their transactions from structuring/design to completion, and lifecycle events
  • Advising in relation to reputational risk
  • Advising in relation to regulatory change which may impact the business
  • Engaging and managing external counsel appropriately, and cost effectively
  • Troubleshoot, by dealing with defaults, restructurings, disputes, litigations, and materialisation of other legal and commercial risk
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of finance and other documentation
