DRI is taking a leading role in the energy transition in Europe.
Our mission is to accelerate the reduction in Europe’s reliance on fossil fuels, and we have already established a portfolio of onshore wind and solar projects. At the end of 2023 we finished construction of our first solar park and windfarm, which are now exporting power.
To have the biggest impact, we target markets that are underserved by capital and renewable expertise, by a team with a long history in successful development and construction of major renewable projects.
As the Legal Counsel, you will work on local development matters (regulations, project due diligence, acquisition of land, grid connection, etc.), provide advice on contractual matters and general business operations related legal topics. You will also manage and mitigate legal risks by establishing, observing and keeping up to date procedures to promote legal, compliance and risk management inside the company. Additionally, you will support colleagues from other units during tendering process, contract negotiations and in corporate governance related matters.
The applicant will ideally have over 7 years+ of experience within a similar role in industrial or energy business, or a law firm. You will report to the Head of Legal at DRI.

What you will do:

  • Provide general assistance and legal advice on contractual matters as required to support DRI’s business
  • Local development matters such as regulations, project due diligence, acquisition of land, grid connection, permitting, etc.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, such as clients, vendors and external legal counsel, to address legal matters and negotiate contractual terms
  • Draft, review and keep up to date DRI’s template contract documentation as required
  • Handle contractual claims and associated correspondence with counterparties
  • Maintain DRI’s and its subsidiaries contract register and database
  • Advise on corporate law and corporate governance matters
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, finance professionals, and senior management, to provide legal support and guidance throughout contractual matters
  • Supervise outside legal counsels and control DRI’s budget for the legal services
  • Perform other ad hoc legal tasks

What you bring:

  • Qualified lawyer with a bachelor or master’s degree (Italian law) combined with practical experience in a similar capacity
  • Aim-oriented, proactive and communicative personality with entrepreneurial thinking capable of working independently
  • Experience in the power industry, preferably with matters in relation to regulations, land acquisition, grid connection and permitting
  • Readiness to irregular international business trips
  • Excellent command Italian and English
