Landmark is seeking a Legal Counsel to join our organization for a one-year paternity leave replacement for our office in Calgary.
Your Role…
We are looking for a lawyer specialized in commercial real estate - leasing. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating leasing agreements (leases, renewals, lease amendments, offers to purchase, estoppels, etc.) and providing legal advice related thereto.
This position is ideal for candidates who are highly organized, have the ability to manage deadlines, have great attention to detail, have great team spirit and are autonomous in drafting and negotiating leases.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide sound legal advice in the best interests of Landmark and/or its clients to all Landmark staff and clients as required. An “open door” policy is expected.
  • Draft and prepare real estate documentation such as, offers to lease, leases, addendums and other leasing and legal documentation and real estate documentation such as letters of intent, offers to purchase, management agreements and other related agreements.
  • Conduct and control lease negotiations and other legal documentation.
  • Correspond with parties concerned (clients, tenants, landlords, lawyers and/or others) to settle leases and solve problematic issues and conflicts.
  • Perform all other related duties as required by the position.

You core competencies…

  • Member of the Law Society of Alberta
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in commercial real estate and in drafting commercial documentation as a lawyer
  • Excellent negotiation and drafting skills
  • Manage priorities and work in a team environment
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail
