Are you an experienced legal executive, junior solicitor or paralegal with a passion for contract law?
We are currently looking for a talented legal professional to join the IVCC legal team, to provide essential cover whilst our Senior Legal Counsel is on maternity leave. This is a fixed term position for a period of approximately 12 months.
In this role, you will be working closely with the Director of Legal, providing contract and legal advice to IVCC and ensuring contacts are managed.
Your primary focus will be on managing contracts and providing legal support across various agreements with academic, commercial, and industrial partners worldwide. With IVCC’s substantial contract portfolio, this role offers you the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of legal matters that make a tangible difference in public health.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking someone who has significant experience working with contracts in a commercial environment.. You’ll have a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and legal practices
  • Experience working with contract management systems and templates
  • Experience of working within or for industry
  • Information management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate confidently
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Proficient in MS Office and SharePoint

ABOUT US

IVCC was incorporated in 2008 and is hosted by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Our program of work is supported by a wide range of funders including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, FCDO, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), USAID and DFAT (Australian Government).
IVCC partners with third party organisations (industry and academic) to support the development of new vector control products in the fight against malaria, in order to save lives and increase prosperity for some of the poorest communities in the world, which is the vision IVCC strives for

Responsibilities:

  • General Legal Support: Work alongside the Director of Legal to assist with legal processes across IVCC, including governance and general legal advice.
  • Contract Management: Take ownership of the preparation, negotiation, and execution of various contracts such as Product Development Agreements, Variations, Research Collaboration Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and more.
  • Collaboration: Engage with internal teams, external legal advisors, and stakeholders to ensure contracts are completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Documentation: Ensure legal documents are managed, signed, and stored appropriately, maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in contracts and take proactive steps to mitigate them, ensuring IVCC’s interests are protected.
