EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • 5+ years’ PQE in commercial contracting gained either within private practice or a similar in-house role
  • Previous experience working in within the financial service sector or superannuation industry will be favourably considered
  • Current practising certificate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering results through self-motivation and effective teamwork

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

If you are a commercial legal counsel who enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, this is the role for you. You will be part of the Retirement Solutions division of MUFG, a leading financial services group with a global presence. You will work closely with the Head of Legal, providing practical and quality legal advice on commercial contracts to various stakeholders, including senior management and our Client Partnership teams. You will also help the business to navigate the impacts of commercial contract changes and support strategic initiatives and transformation projects. You will have the opportunity to share your expertise and learn from your colleagues in team meetings and business forums/committees.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing timely and commercially focused legal advice to our stakeholders, with a particular focus on business-to-business professional services contracts.
  • Drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements, including client services contracts, agreements with third party vendors, and intra-group contracts.
  • Assisting the business with its handling of client queries.
  • Understanding and implementing our company compliance frameworks (such as our Contracts Policy and Delegations of Authority).Understanding the regulatory landscape applicable to our business and that of our clients and reflecting this in legal advice which is provided.
