Our client is one of the most recognized retail brand in the world. They are now looking to hire a highly driven, dynamic, experienced Legal Counsel to lead their Oceania business. This role will be reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel and work closely with various business stakeholders as a Legal Business Partner.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing support on all legal matters and identifying and advising on legal, commercial and compliance risks across Australia & New Zealand region.
  • Drafting and reviewing commercial contracts and legal documents, including leases, licenses, construction and design agreements, general contractor agreements, e-commerce terms and conditions, privacy policies, advertising contracts, service agreements, social media, celebrity, photographers & models’ agreements, partnership agreements, sponsorship agreements, vendor agreements and other types of operational documents.
  • Providing practical legal advice to business partners and the retail team on various issues including consumer protection, e-commerce, data privacy and security, anti-bribery, anti-competition, advertising, gaming & sweepstakes laws, and sustainability claims.
  • Developing and upgrading contract templates for use in the ANZ region.
  • Supporting marketing team in preparing ambassador agreements, campaign terms & conditions, and event waivers.
  • Working with the e-commerce and technology team on digital and technology initiatives and projects.
  • Partnering with Human Resources and Global Employment teams ensuring compliance with local labour law requirements and advising on practicable solutions.
  • Providing support to Senior Legal Counsel or Head of Legal on the organisation’s strategic and key initiatives and projects.
  • Conducting research on legal and regulatory developments across ANZ.
  • Handling and coordinating any matters with external counsels as and when necessary.
  • Handling any ad-hoc tasks assigned as and when required.
  • Preparing training materials and conducting training for business partners in the region.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or Master’s of Law from an accredited institution
  • Admission to practice law in Australia and a current practicing certificate.
  • 6 - 8 years of PQE with relevant in-house legal experience gained in a multinational environment.
  • Experience in retail and e-commerce will have an advantage for this role.
