We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Langley, BC.
Reporting to the General Counsel, you will be a part of the in-house legal team providing comprehensive legal support to the organization ensuring compliance with laws and regulations while mitigating potential risks. You will work closely with all business areas and provide legal advice on a range of commercial matters.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing legal advice on a variety of matters including commercial leasing/purchasing, trademark law, software and licensing and information technology rights, competition and marketing laws, privacy rights, e-commerce, pharmacy matters, employment law, risk management and regulatory compliance, and general commercial contracts/matters.
- Composing drafts and assisting with the negotiation of complex commercial contracts and transactions.
- Developing practical solutions to meet business needs while ensuring legal compliance and high ethical standards are maintained.
- Meeting with and supporting different areas of the business and managing legal projects/matters from commencement to completion.
- Working directly with other lawyers and business users.
- Providing leadership and support to the legal team, fostering collaboration, and guiding strategic legal initiatives.
- Handling evolving developments on transactions while remaining focused on the goals of the business.
- Producing a large volume of quality legal work on a timely basis.
- Preparing presentations and presenting to different business users on various legal topics.
You have:
- A law degree from a recognized university
- An active membership with a Canadian law society and are qualified to practice law in the province of British Columbia.
- 5+ years experience practicing law.
- Commercial legal experience in a private law firm or corporate environment.
- Knowledge of concepts and laws relating to commercial leasing/purchasing, trademarks, privacy, software licensing, competition/marketing laws and general commercial contracts.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft office and workflow management software.
