Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Legal Counsel to join our team in Sydney. In this pivotal role, you will provide essential legal guidance and support, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards across our technology operations.
You will be responsible for a wide range of legal tasks, including providing expert legal advice on technology-related matters such as intellectual property, data privacy, cybersecurity, and software licensing. Additionally, you will review, draft, and negotiate technology-related contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
To mitigate legal risks, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to proactively identify and address potential issues. You will also stay abreast of evolving laws, regulations, and industry standards, providing guidance on their impact.
Furthermore, you will conduct in-depth legal research and analysis to inform strategic decision-making processes. You will represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations related to technology matters. Finally, you will provide comprehensive legal training and guidance to internal stakeholders on technology-related legal issues.
Qualifications
- Up to 5 years of PQE in corporate/commercial law gained from a leading law firm or in-house legal team.
- Experience in corporate work, litigation, or a combination of both is preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial law principles, including contract negotiation and revenue recognition.
- Ability to identify and assess legal and commercial risks in various business situations.
- Knowledge of Australia’s regulatory environment, particularly related to the technology industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- In-house legal experience in a technology or IT environment within a multinational corporation.
- Knowledge of intellectual property law, data privacy law, and cybersecurity law.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law
