Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
Thiess Mining has an opportunity for a Legal Counsel based in our conveniently located West Perth office. In this role you will be providing support to Thiess West and MACA Global mining operations and construction projects.
The successful candidate will have completed a tertiary degree in law, a current practicing certificate and 3+ years’ experience in either private practice or an in-house legal role and experience in the construction or mining services sector.
You will have the ability to analyse complex legal and regulatory material, communicate the implications in clear and straightforward language, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Review tender documents and perform contract risk assessments.
- Negotiate contract terms with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Develop and maintain commercial and respectful relationships with clients, regulators, joint venture partners and other business partners including suppliers and subcontractors.
- Detailed understanding of contractual and legislative interpretation with practical, commercial advice on its application to the business
- Proactively manage claims, disputes, and litigation always with consideration of best for business options and minimal external cost
- Travel as required.
