Description:

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Legal Secretary will support the solicitors with office management, document preparation, client liaison, and administrative duties.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:
  • Minimum of GCSEs (Grades A-C) in English and Mathematics.
  • Experience:
  • Previous experience as a legal secretary or in a legal environment is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with legal software and case management systems (e.g., Proclaim)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of UK legal terminology, court procedures, and the structure of legal documents.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
    Pay: £25,000.00 per year
    Expected hours: 37.5 per week

Responsibilities:

  • Document Drafting and Management:
  • Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, including contracts, deeds, witness statements, letters, and court forms.
  • Prepare legal correspondence, including emails and letters.
  • Organise, index, and maintain case files (both physical and electronic) in accordance with law firm policies.
  • Administrative Support:
  • Manage and maintain the solicitor’s calendar by scheduling appointments, hearings, and meetings.
  • Handle telephone calls, take messages, and deal with client and court inquiries.
  • Organise and prioritise the solicitor’s workload, ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Client Interaction:
  • Liaise with clients, witnesses, experts, and third parties to gather information and keep them informed on case developments.
  • Ensure confidential handling of sensitive information and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Other General Administrative Duties:
  • Order office supplies and maintain office equipment.
  • Organise and coordinate meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Handle post, emails, and fax communications efficiently.
