The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is made up of a team of experts who understand local communities and assess every property in Ontario. What we do provides the very foundation that municipalities use to base the property taxes needed to pay for the services we use every day.

Responsibilities:

You are an organized individual who enjoys collaborative work. This role provides policy support to the senior management, head office and field office staff; to provide ongoing legislation support to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) senior management and staff, and to other Provincial Government Ministries, municipal clients and the public.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Review legal interpretation requests to ensure required documents have been submitted and if necessary, request missing documents be obtained by MPAC staff and submitted to LPSS for review
  • Assist in researching and identifying relevant court decisions for legal interpretation requests and conduct other research including extensive internet research of tax policy
  • Respond to simple legal interpretation requests and enquiries
  • Monitor House proceedings within the Legislative Assembly of Ontario by researching, organizing, updating, recording and distributing assessment related regulations to LPSS staff and field offices
  • Maintain and keep apprised of assessment-related regulations and Ontario Government Bills and distribute related information to analysts and management
  • Liaise with FOI and Records Management on the coordination and production of records according to retention schedules or FOI requests in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
  • Produce letters, memoranda, reports, bulletins, presentations and statistical tables ensuring accuracy and adherence to Corporate standards
