ABOUT US

The Office of the Registrar is dedicated to helping our students achieve their academic goals by providing to the Western community an array of integrated student related services in a confidential and professional environment. This includes providing exceptional service to current students as well as prospective students from the initial point of interest in undergraduate programs at Western, through the information gathering, application, and admission processes.

Education:

  • Undergraduate university degree from an accredited, recognized universit

Experience:

  • 2 years of public relations or communications experience
  • Recruitment experience or client/ service interfacing experience is preferred
  • Digital communications experience (email, chat and social media) is preferre

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on professional presentations to external contacts

  • Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
  • Ability to efficiently handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines by setting effective priorities
  • Demonstrated public speaking experience to large and diverse groups
  • Ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events and activities
  • Positive, outgoing attitude with a genuine customer service orientation
  • Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality
  • Ability to remain highly motivated, resilient, innovative, and collaborative when faced with challenges
  • A strong record of teamwork with the motivation and ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Detailed knowledge of the university environment and structure and the ability to liaise and work effectively in a team environment and with members of the campus community at all levels
  • Ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
  • A working knowledge of post-secondary programs throughout Canada is an asse

Responsibilities:

The Liaison Officer supports the University in recruiting and retaining the best possible students to Western. The incumbent promotes the Western University brand and attracts high quality students to undergraduate degree, diploma and certificate programs through various on and off campus program and virtual events. The Liaison Officer acts as a first point of contact and represents Western at education fairs, secondary school and college visits, and other related outreach events including online platforms. The incumbent provides advice and responds to inquiries from students, teachers, guidance counsellors, the general community and other stakeholders in regard to Western’s programs and service offerings, the application and admissions processes, funding sources, housing options, student life, and/or international exchange opportunities and transitions.
Qualifications
