Description:
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Learning, Development & Innovation department as a Library & Academic Practice Coach.
Based primarily in the David Hockney Library and Universal Skills Centre, but willing to work flexibly across college, the Library and Academic Practice Coach will support the academic success of learners by providing personal, group and classroom support for study skills including writing, IT, time management and revision. One of this role’s key responsibilities is providing support to learners via one-to-one tutorials. This may include working one evening per week (up until 8pm)
This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
- GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
- Degree or working towards
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in academic study practice, including academic writing.
- Successful experience of working with students to achieve
- Ability to utilise IT and ILT both for administrative and teaching purposes
- Experience of working in a customer focused environment
- Experience of using databases, internet and e-mail

Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Providing individual face-to-face or online support to Bradford College’s FE and HE students in order to improve their library, IT study and academic practice.
- Delivering sessions to support English, IT and Maths, including reading groups and maths clubs
- Contributing to a programme of sessions provided to students in collaboration with other departments.
- Creating guides and learning materials, both in electronic and paper form.
- Working with course leaders to provide effective interventions for students who are struggling in certain areas.
- Referral to other support services as appropriate
- Carry out processes relating to the daily operations of library services when required, including using the Library Management System, locating relevant print and electronic resources, keeping the library tidy and well-organised, and supporting the library’s enquiry services.
- Available to work until 8pm one day per week if required.
- Very occasional weekend work to support open days and marketing activity.
