GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Citrus County is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Library Aide-Courier to join our dynamic team. The Library Aide-Courier position provides direct customer service and assistance to Citrus County Library customers. Ensures timely delivery, pick up, sorting of mail and packages to and from various branch libraries. Work schedule varies and must be flexible to work after normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and at various branch locations.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year combination of education, training, or experience in a clerical, library, or retail work environment.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration, Skills

  • Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
  • Ability to type and perform basic clerical functions.
  • Ability to work after normal business hours (may include nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar.
  • Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and strong familiarity with mobile devices including smartphones and tablets.
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
  • IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and
  • IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • The job requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The job requires frequently carrying and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • The job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, twisting, and reaching above shoulders.
  • This job requires simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, typing, operating foot controls/levers, and driving automotive equipment.
  • The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color vision and depth perception.

Emergency Response/Recovery Activities

  • All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location, and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens. Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
  • Utilizes daily the library van to transport books, materials, mail, and equipment to and from various branch libraries.
  • Performs deliveries to County offices and partner organizations as needed.
  • Maintains a regular maintenance schedule and log for library vehicles.
  • Processes materials including, but not limited to, receiving and unpacking shipments, sorting, covering books, taping, and labeling.
  • Performs repairs on books and other materials.
  • Uses a computer for basic data entry, checks materials in and out, tracks items, searches and retrieves information
  • Sets-up meeting rooms including assembling tables, chairs, and various equipment.
  • Assists other library staff with tasks and projects as needed
  • Performs other duties as required.
